Last night I started watching episodes of Flight of The Conchords for the first time. I love all the shots of New York and Brooklyn. The boys are so funny and adorable. This is my favorite music sequence so far…

I had the pleasure this past May Long Weekend to visit Mission Hill,
Summerhill Pyramid (they plant by the moon),
and Quail’s Gate wineries in the beautiful Okanagan Valley.
I purchased a total of six bottles from the wineries. Mostly whites, dessert wines and a reserve for a very special occasion. Surprisingly only one red this time. It’s so hard cause I want to open them all right now! Such deliciousness… If you are a lover of wine, like me, and appreciate the vine, like me, I highly recommend visiting our little European gems! I’m already planning my trip to visit come Harvest.

written April 4 2008,
I just got home from the Joe Strummer documentary. While I was watching I remembered how Mikey Dread produced a few of the tracks on The Clash’s album Sandinista. The most popular track was Bankrobber. He also went on tour with them. He is hailed as one of the most influential and significant leaders of reggae music, the original ’Dread at the controls’. Legendary DJ. Producer. Legend. Here is a very young slender Mikey (0.36) with The Clash performing Bankrobber…
So anyways I come home and did a little youtube search and I see all these RIP Mikey Dread… turns out he left our world just over two weeks ago. I am so sad to hear this news. He used to come to Calgary and play shows on Valentines day. He would always give the ladies in the audience each a rose. What a sweetie. This one time I was too shy to go up to the stage so he said you pretty lady come over here and let me give you a rose. So I walked over and he ended up giving me a hug and a rose. He had the best groove moves and his band was so slick!!! The last time I saw him there was this young white female on the bass. She didn’t miss a beat. One of my favorite tracks is ’smoke a pound of weed’ especially when he did it live. He is such a fundamental player in the reggae scene. I have so much respect for this man. We corresponded through myspace a few times over the years. He always had the most positive and beautiful things to say. I’m gonna miss him!
Now a documentary about Mikey is something I would love to see!
My thoughts will be with his friends and family this Saturday as they lay him to rest in Port Antonio Jamaica.
